The state collected less money in 2018
Although it had planned to collect 461 billion lek for its coffers, it failed to do so. In 2018, the state managed to collect only 449 billion lek. Nonetheless, this figure was higher than the previous year, when authorities managed to collect a total of 430 billion lek. This is a general picture of the revenues that the ministry of Finance and Economy collects. According to these figures, the amount of revenues that experts had projected at the beginning of the year was 2.7% higher. Meanwhile, what really catches the eye is the fact that the biggest increase was registered in the revenues collected by local government and the money collected through special funds. In total, local government has managed to collect 16.3 billion lek worth of local taxes as opposed to 14.8 billion lek which was the projected figure.

This amount takes the total amount of tax collected by local government to 28.1 billion lek. The same thing has also happened with the revenues collected through social security contributions, which amounted to 79.2 billion lek as opposed to 78.5 billion lek, which was also the projected figure. On the other hand, if we refer to tax incomes, the ones which have registered an increase last year were tax on profit and national taxes. Meanwhile, there’s been a decline in the amount of Value Added Tax that was collected, excise and tax on personal income.
