Yesterday, the Ministry of Interior has published the first extract of the voters’ lists which will be used for the local government elections scheduled to take place on 30 June 2019. Based on the data supplied by the General Directorate of Civil Registry, the number of Albanian citizens entitled to vote is 3.549.909. 50.5% of them are men and 49.4% are women.
Meanwhile, the names of 1.264 people have been removed from the list as they’re suffering prison sentences, along with the names of 1.309 people over 100 years old. Meanwhile, the General Directorate of Civil Registry has requested all local branches to generate the electronic extract of the voters’ list, which also includes people who turn 18 until June 30, 2019. By 4 December 2018, Civil Registry offices have the legal obligation to print the first extract of all voters based on their current place of residence and polling station. On its part, the ministry of Interior says that its main goal is to generate a complete voters’ list, which will guarantee everyone the right to vote by doing everything to avoid problems identified in the past.
