Opposition leader: Criminal gangs are controlling the territory
The leader of the opposition, Lulzim Basha has delivered a news conference where he revealed the ties that currently exist between criminal gangs and the government.

According to Basha, sea and land in Vlora are entirely controlled by people who are connected to the Interior minister’s brother, Agron Xhafaj, while before his extradition to Italy, they were controlled by Agron Xhafaj himself.

Basha also spoke of the ties which, according to him, exist between criminal gangs and officials in Elbasan, addressing direct accusations against mayor Qazim Sejdini and the socialist MP, Taulant Balla.

Basha also accused Foreign minister Ditmir Bushati for his connections with the so called Bajra gang in Shkodra.

“The situation that we face today is a direct result of the fact that the justice system has been ruined. Gangs are untouchable, because the state offers them protection. The anti-mafia law which came into effect in 2008, is not yielding any results”, Basha said.
