Albania has made little progress in the fight against money laundering
Albania has made very little progress in the fight against money laundering. This is suggested by the Basel AML Index, the most prestigious global indicator, which ranks 129 countries of the world in terms of the efforts that they have made in the fight against money laundering.

In this list, Albania ranks 55th. On the top of the list are the countries with the poorest performance, while on the bottom are the countries with the best performance. In this index, Albania has scored 5.57 points as opposed to 5.65 last year.

As far as the countries of the region are concerned, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina have performed worse than Albania, but no comparison could be drawn with Montenegro and Macedonia, because the two countries have made significant progress in the past year.
