“In 2018, the value of construction permits issued for buildings and engineering works is 59 billion lek as opposed to 49 billion lek approved in 2017”, experts of INSTAT say. This shows that from one year to another, the amount of funds spent on construction has increased by 20%.
Meanwhile, at the end of last year, the value of construction permits grew by 2.3 times. “The approximate value of permits which were approved for constructions and engineering works in the fourth quarter of 2018 is 22.1 billion lek as opposed to 9.7 billion lek, which was the value of construction permits issued in the fourth quarter of 2017”, experts of INSTAT explain.
Meanwhile, it looks like the construction sector continues to remain an important source of investment for Albanians, while demand for new constructions continues to be high. Institutions know this, while construction firms continue to apply for new construction permits. This is the reason why the number of construction permits is growing year on year, especially in the capital, where demand for new homes continues to be high due to internal migration and the development of businesses. So, according to the data that was published yesterday by the Institute of Statistics, out of 1194 construction permits which have been issued throughout the country, 388 of them have been in the capital.
