According to the Institute of Geo Science, the earthquake measured 5.1 on the Richter scale. The epicenter of the earthquake was near Hamallaj, in the Lalez Bay, in Durres. After the first tremor of the earth, there was a second one with a lower magnitude. The earthquake was felt in Tirana, Durres, Fier and even in Vlora. The Ministry of Defence has reported that the National Operational Center has identified several damages in certain buildings. Meanwhile, the European Institute of Geo Science, CSEM, declared that the earthquake was also felt in other countries of the region, such as Kosovo, Serbia, Macedonia and Montenegro. But, in the Albanian capital, the earthquake caused a lot of panic among people, who rushed outside. The mayor of Tirana issued guidelines for the residents of the capital. “No panic. Avoid being inside premises until authorities clarify the circumstances. If you are affected by the earthquake, call emergency services” Veliaj said. Meanwhile, the new head of the Civil Emergencies, Haki Çako has held a meeting with the emergency structures after the earthquake and asked them to collect information on the situation.
