Two MPs of the Party for Democracy, Integration and Unity (PDIU) have left this political force and have officially joined the Socialist Party. The two MPs in question are Reme Lala and Elena Xhina, who have appeared on the side of PM Edi Rama during the ceremony for the beginning of the construction works in Arber Highway. This way, the Socialist Party currently has 76 seats. Let us recall the Reme Lala represents the constituency of Dibra, while Elena Xhina represents the constituency of Elbasan.

But, the ceremony marking the beginning of construction works in the Arber Highway has also been received by protests. The youngsters of the Youth Forum of the Democratic Party in the town of Klos have launched slogans against the prime minister of the country. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister has been ironic, by saying that the protest of the youngsters of this party reminded him of a classic Albanian movie called “Concert in 1936”.

Meanwhile, talking about the Arber Highway project, the PM said that under the contract, the road will be ready in three years time. Along with the cost for its maintenance for 10 years and the functioning of the tunnel, Arber Highway has a cost of 250 million euros. “It will have tunnels varying in length from 2.6 km to 3.2 km. This road is now 69 km in length as opposed to 118 km”, Rama explained in regards to the new road which is expected to facilitate road connections with the north of the country. The Prime Minister added than thanks to this road, Peshkopi will now be closer to Tirana.
