Millions of euros seized in the port of Durres, democrat leader warned it
A large amount of euros, namely 5 million, were seized yesterday by police in the port of Durres. The money is suspected to be proceeds of crime coming from Belgium. According to police, the vehicle where the money was found is suspected to be owned by Edi Lika. This person, who was taken in to be questioned on this, claimed that he had no knowledge about this large amount of money found in his vehicle and that he was contracted by a businessman.

“I have no knowledge on the money. I was just in charge of the transport. We had been contracted by several companies in exchange of the transport fee”, Lika said. Meanwhile, the businessman in question remains a mystery. He had hired 9 vehicles, 7 of which were Toyota Yaris.  The cars and the considerable amount of euros have been seized by investigators. On the other hand, Albanian police was informed by Italian police that a vehicle which had left the port of Ancona contained illegal goods in it and authorities in Albania did in fact find the considerable amount of cash.  The banknotes were hidden inside the vehicle in question. On Thursday, chairman of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha warned this in parliament on Thursday, when he said that he had information that 1.5 million euros would be arriving at the port of Durres, giving details of the vehicle model and accusing figures from the majority in parliament of their involvement.
