This has been declared today by the Albanian ministry of Interior concerning the rumour circulating on the domestic media that a refugee camp was going to be set up in Albania.
The media has referred to the statements of the deputy minister of Interior, Julian Hodaj who made comparisons with the war in Kosovo. The Interior ministry has explained that he has not referred to a concrete issue. According to this ministry, the declarations that were made according to which Albania has shown that it is perfectly able to face these types of emergency situations, relate to a hypothetical situation and not to something concrete.
“So, the answer relates to an emergency hypothetical situation such as the one of the war in Kosovo, where there was a massive mobilization by the state. There has never been a discussion about a possible camp being built in Albania”, officials of this ministry explain. But, the opposition has immediately reacted after this declaration issued by authorities. The head of the parliamentary group of the Socialist Movement for Integration, Petrit Vasili has accused the government of being irresponsible. “The Ministry of Interior translates its deputy minister from Albanian to Albanian. It’s hard to find an irresponsible state such as this one”, Vasili said. “The more they lie, the more they prove the hardships that they are causing to people”, SMI’s whip declared.
