“Relations between Albania and Turkey are excellent, while Erdogan’s strategy for Albania poses a threat”. This is the opinion that former military attaché of Albania to Turkey, Hajro Limaj offers in a special interview for Albanian Free Press. According to him, Rama has turned the personal relation that he has with the head of the Turkish state into a foreign strategy policy for the country. “In Turkey, we saw the victory of political Islam led by Erdogan, while democracy lost. Turkey is heading toward a full destruction of the state that was built by the great Ataturk; a democratic and secular state. Prisons have been filled Erdogan’s opponents: 2400 scientists, 165 journalists, 7800 colonels, 190 generals and thousands of people who do not share his opinions”, he also says. On the other hand, according to Limaj, “negotiations for Albania’s accession in the European Union can only be opened if Germany insists and if this country manages to convince France about it”, adding that “of course, these negotiations will be conditioned, because our country continues to face problems with organized crime, corruption and the lack of a democratic state functioning according to European standards”.
