The Democratic Party continues to address accusations against Interior minister, Fatmir Xhafaj regarding his brother. Yesterday, this party has published a recorded conversation through which it claimed that Agron Xhafaj continues to be the head of an international drug ring based in Vlora. In this recorded conversation, the DP claims that the minister’s brother talks to a person named “Collaborator X” discussing matters of drug trafficking. According to democrats, in the past, this person and Agron Xhafaj have worked together in the traffic of drugs, but when he was sentenced to prison in Italy, Agron was no longer interested on him. But, afterwards, they had a second meeting in Vlora.
The conversation was registered inside the premises of a bar in the city, known to be the property of the Interior minister’s brother. Meanwhile, the Socialist Party whip, Taulant Balla has reacted on this registered conversation, saying that if the material is authentic, then Xhafaj should assume moral responsibility. He has even encouraged the Democratic Party to provide the prosecution with any other proof that it has. According to him, it must first be ascertained if the registration is authentic or not and this must be done by the prosecution. “The people that hold this material, must take it to the prosecution which will examine it. We are looking forward to learning the truth, convinced that either the accused should be punished if found guilty, or the accusers should be if they have orchestrated all this”, he said.
