Former MP Mark Frroku has been released from prison. The ruling was announced by the Court of Fier, which decided to release the defendant on parole. This court has decided to write off 17 months of the defendant’s sentence. Let us recall that Frroku was sentenced a year ago, on April 2017, to 7 years and six months in prison on two charges: concealment of assets and illegal construction. Meanwhile, he was acquitted on the count of first degree murder which relates to a murder case occurred in Belgium in 1999. But, in January of this year, Tirana Court of Appeal reduced his sentence to 6 years in prison. Meanwhile, his defense lawyer, Tonin Prendi declared that his client did not have his sentence reduced, but instead, he was released on parole. The Democratic Party has reacted immediately about the release of the former MP, Mark Frroku accused of murder.
According to democrats, this proves that justice is under the control of PM Edi Rama and his “entourage of mobsters”. “The release of Mark Frroku, Xhafaj mob family, the compromising of the investigations on Saimir Tahiri and the full capture of the prosecution marks the degradation of the justice system in Albania”, the Democratic Party declared. This party also declared that it’s time for the people of this country, who want the rule of law, to take destiny in their hands. This political force said that Albanians can either endure Edi Rama’s mob like government, or the rule of law, “but not both of them”. According to this party, under these circumstances, people are the only hope for this country.
