One of the founders of the SP, Luan Hajdaraga dies aged 69
One of the most prominent figures of the Socialist Party, Luan Hajdaraga has died yesterday at the age of 69 at “Mother Teresa” University Hospital. Hajdaraga had recently  frequent health complications. A while ago, the late politician suffered a stroke, but yesterday’s stroke seemed to be fatal for the 69 year old. Luan Hajdaraga was one of the founders of the Socialist Party in June 1991. For many years, Hajdaraga has been a senior official  of the Socialist Party and for a while, he also served as party vice chairman. Hajdaraga has also served as Defence minister from 1998 until 2000, while he has also served as an MP. The death was followed by many comments. PM Edi Rama considered him as a “peaceful and reasonable man who knew how to talk to people”.

Meanwhile, parliamentary speaker, Gramoz Rui considered Hadaraga as a “rare man who dedicated his life and his abilities to education, culture, politics and public interest”. As co-founder and vice chairman of the Socialist Party, Luan Hajdaraga contributed in order to build a modern Albanian left with a modern governing program. As Member of Parliament, Luan Hajdaraga was a prominent representative of the Albanian people. As minister of Defence, he was distinguished for his devotion at the service of the country and national security, as a state personality and an important partner for Albania’s international allies.
